Fredette Reminds Gonzaga Coach Mark Few Of Adam Morrison

Mar 19, 2011 2:42 PM

Gonzaga’s not too impressed with Jimmer Fredette’s scoring feats.

The Zags have worked around the capacity of sensational shooters before.

“He’s a great player,” Gonzaga center Robert Sacre said. “But we also had Adam Morrison with us before. We’ve seen great players.”

Gonzaga coach Mark Few thinks the comparison has merit.

“They’re both, I think, once-in-a-lifetime players,” Few said. “Their drive, their ability to score, how clutch they are. Jimmer reminds me so much of Adam. He hits closely guarded shots. You don’t see that many guys who can consistently make closely guarded shots like that.”

Loyola Marymount Dismisses Teel

Mar 5, 2011 4:46 PM

Loyola Marymount has dismissed second-leading scorer and rebounder Vernon Teel.

The senior guard received all-West Coast Conference honorable mention recognition earlier in the week and averaged 12.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season.

"This was an internal decision that we felt was best for our team and our program," Loyola Marymount coach Max Good said in a statement. "This was strictly based on internal issues and was not attributed to behavior in or around the WCC tournament."

Omar Samhan Looks Back On Saint Mary's Tournament Run

Mar 5, 2011 1:34 PM

Omar Samhan was one of the media darlings of last year’s NCAA tournament as St. Mary’s upset No. 7 Richmond and No. 2 Villanova.

"That was an unreal experience," Samhan said. "There was a media onslaught. For some reason, they just picked our school and me to just kind of magnify across the nation. It was awesome. I was sitting there watching SportsCenter and the next thing I know, something that I said on Twitter is getting read on SportsCenter. That's crazy."

Samhan has since signed a two-year contract to play professionally in Europe for Lithuania power Zalgris Kaunas. This summer, he’ll play for the Egyptian national team at the All-Africa games.
